These are busy times for regional powerhouse Finch Group.

The brokerage, a Broker Network partner, has set its sights on launching a new risk management consultancy – and announced its latest acquisition, its sixth since its deal with the network.

Based in Reading, the firm, which has seen its GWP leap from £20 million to £34 million over the last 18 months, is developing a risk management consultancy in an effort to offer a more sophisticated service to its clients. The consultancy is seen as an additional service for clients wanting to instigate tighter controls.

Meanwhile, it has also moved for Opus Risk Solutions Ltd – a Bournemouth-based brokerage placing £1.7 million in commercial client premium. Its shareholders Nick Inge and Clive Clifford are expected to remain with the business.

“This is an extremely exciting time for Finch Group. The last two years have seen us grow through acquisition and widen our footprint across the South of England with offices in Reading, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Southampton, Isle of Wight and now Bournemouth,” said Vince Gardner, Finch Group’s managing director. “Our latest partnership will allow us to strengthen our brand across the South Coast and I’m looking forward to welcoming Nick and the Opus team to the ever-growing Finch family.

“Being a community broker means that you become very close to your clients. Their success is our success which is why we wanted to take that extra step in supporting them wherever we can. I firmly believe that risk management should be at the heart of every business but it is often overlooked by SMEs.”
