Insurtech UK, which is touted as the voice of the country’s insurtech community, has been launched.

The organisation’s inaugural meeting, which focussed on what the group intends to undertake in the first six months and how it will be structured, saw 20 founding members in attendance. So far 31 companies have joined or have begun the process to come onboard.

These are: Anorak, Azur, Bewica, Bikmo, Bought By Many, Buzzmove, Canopy, Claim Technology, Concirrus, CoVi Analytics, Drover, Equipsme, FloodFlash, Hokodo, Honcho, Kasko, Konsileo, Laka, Marmalade, Meet Sherpa, My Urban Jungle, Pluto, Polaris, PolicyCastle, Shepherd, So-sure, Tapoly, Track My Risks, Worry+Peace, Wrisk, and Yulife.

Supported by public affairs consultancy Political Intelligence, Insurtech UK aims to develop into a formal association in 2019. Political Intelligence is experienced in providing secretariat functions to trade associations and industry alliances.

“This is an exciting step towards building the voice of the UK’s growing insurtech industry,” commented Worry+Peace founder James York. “We’ve had tremendous support so far from the community as well as the wider insurance ecosystem.

“We’re keen to get started and build on the fantastic momentum already gained. We look forward to collaborating with many partners and to help build a sector that has true potential to be world-leading.”

Currently accepting applications for membership, associate membership, and partnership opportunities, Insurtech UK will seek to drive forward conversations with regulators and also work alongside incumbents in efforts to address the issues being faced by the sector.
