As it targets rapid expansion in the UK, NTT DATA UK has welcomed a new head of insurance – a veteran from Deloitte.

Dean Gulzar will now be responsible for leading the firm’s insurance business across the country having worked in the financial services industry for more than 20 years. His background not only includes time at Deloitte, where he worked with clients in insurance, but also with PwC where he was a partner in the US advisory business and led part of the insurance business out of Chicago.

Now his aim is to drive new client acquisition, with the company already working the likes of Lloyd’s, Legal & General and Tokio Marine Kiln.

“The first thing that struck me about NTT DATA was that its company values very much align to my own. It focuses on building the right culture to help its people thrive, champions diversity and inclusion, and believes in business based on people rather than processes,” he said.

“This year has been challenging for the insurance sector. It has reminded us of the fast-changing nature of risk, and the need to be nimble and act quickly. The good news is that technology has a huge part to play in future success in this industry. It enables our insurance clients to be agile in times of change, and it allows us to innovate so our clients stay ahead of the competition. I’m excited to help NTT DATA further build its offering, and to continue to partner with our clients to ensure they achieve their business goals.”

NTT DATA UK CEO Simon Williams added that Gulzar’s experience would be “invaluable.”
