Leicester-based broker Qdos Contractor, an HCC International Insurance Company subsidiary, has again won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise under the innovation category.

First bagging the recognition in 2017, Qdos was awarded this year for its “Status Review” IR35 insurtech. The unique facility combines insurance cover with tax compliance services, insuring more than 32,000 engagements through the technology.

“I’m delighted that we have won this prestigious award for a second time,” said Qdos chief executive Seb Maley. “Being recognised for our commitment to innovation is testament to the talent and hard work of our outstanding team.

“The industry in which we operate has experienced major change in recent years, and I’m proud that the services we provide are playing a key role in helping freelancers, contractors, and businesses overcome them.”

Nearly 3,000 firms are supported by Qdos when it comes to compliance and coverage, while 70,000 freelancers and contractors hold policies with the business insurance specialist.

Maley added: “The Qdos Status Review facility is an example of the benefits to be gained from providing solutions which combine leading expertise and innovative insurance technology – a formula that we will apply to our growing range of insurance products.”

Born in 1988 as a tax consultancy before expanding into insurance, Qdos is manned by a 38-strong workforce. It was first to market, in 2017, with a comprehensive IR35 compliance system.
