P&C and specialty lines broker Superscript has announced the appointment of two web3 experts to its digital assets team.

With the addition of Mark Titmarsh (pictured left) and John Kamal (pictured right), Superscript now has a total of seven experts to provide insurance specialisms in crypto, blockchain, and web3.

Head of digital assets Ben Davis said bringing two more crypto experts onboard has made the Lloyd’s brokerage “the largest team of insurance brokers dedicated to digital assets in the world.”

“We have built the most formidable team with the deepest technical knowledge about crypto, blockchain and web3 that you won’t find anywhere else,” he said in a news release. “Mark and John come from leading brands in the digital assets ecosystem and bring with them a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for the industry. I’m very excited about what we’re building here. Although we’ve experienced incredible growth, we’re just getting started.”

Titmarsh was formerly the head of digital assets at security, logistics, and operations provider Malca-Amit. He also spent a decade in the insurance industry as an underwriter at Aviva. He will leverage his background in both digital assets and insurance to spearhead Superscript’s custody insurance proposition. The role will see him collaborating with leading custodians and insurers to address insurance capacity issues impacting the digital asset ecosystem.

Kamal, on the other hand, makes his move from blockchain analytics and compliance services provider Elliptic, where he was a crypto threat analyst. As part of Superscript’s digital assets team, he will bring expertise in crypto risk management, cyber threat analysis, and regulatory compliance.

The two come to Superscript just as it had announced the addition of two leaders to its executive team last month. Chris Barclay was named chief commercial officer, while Tim Joslyn assumed the role of chief technology and operations officer.
