Travel Insurance Facilities Plc, the Kent-based managing general agent known as tifgroup, has returned to the broker market with a new portal under the company’s Suretravel brand.

The business, which re-entered the consumer market more than a year ago in partnership with The Collinson Group, had to pause the sales of policies in 2021 as a result of tifgroup’s capacity provider Union Reiseversicherung (a German insurer) pulling out of the UK market following Brexit.

Now insurance brokers can sign up to access the new portal, which features tifgroup’s proprietary tool Protectif. A bespoke medical screening tool, Protectif asks for customers’ lists of prescribed medication and corresponding conditions to allow for more accurate risk assessments and to make the information available in case of overseas treatments.

“We’re excited to be back in the broker space, which was an important part of the business until we had to pause sales,” commented Suretravel manager Amber Moon (pictured) in an emailed release. “Our new portal will give both brokers and agents easy access to travel insurance products, especially for customers with pre-existing medical conditions who may find it hard to find suitable, affordable insurance elsewhere.

“We strongly believe that there is a real need for choice in the UK market for travel insurance policies and related services – particularly those aimed at helping consumers with medical conditions find suitable insurance at affordable prices, allowing them to travel.”

The MGA was underwriting £160 million of gross written premium prior to the pandemic.
