As one of the best insurance agencies in the Southeastern United States, Acentria Insurance landed five leaders on IBA’s 2021 Top Producers list: Kendall and Blake McEachern, Shawn Budney, Vik Patel, and CEO Kevin Mason.

Mason attributes Acentria’s success in part to having a great work environment. “Positive corporate culture starts with our leadership team,” he says. “We put an emphasis on both professional and personal development. We operate like a family. Although we are big, we feel small.”

Another reason for the familiar feel is the fact that several of Acentria’s founding team members remain with the organization. Mason got started in the industry more than 35 years ago after studying management at the University of West Florida. He gradually climbed through the ranks and, in the late 2000s, found himself working as a branch manager alongside Kendall McEachern, opening and operating a branch of a national insurance agency in Destin, Florida. In 2010, the pair decided to branch off to create Acentria with their fellow co-founder, Mitch Weinstein.

“We began with 25 team members and $5 million in revenue,” Mason says. “We now have over 700 team members, 50 locations across the Southeastern US and over $90 million in revenue. We’re a fast-growing, people-first workplace. We stand for honesty, creativity, perseverance, mutual respect and commitment – and we infuse these values into our company culture and business operations.”

Now in the CEO role, Mason focuses on developing market-leading insurance solutions and fostering client relationships through excellent service. He specializes in the overall growth of Acentria and bringing new talent and partners to the organization.

A Foundation Risk Partners company, Acentria maintains a progressive M&A model; provides regular training, networking and team-building events; and has an in-house marketing and branding department that helps producers grow their books. The company draws new and millennial talent with producer training and development programs and offers team members access to a producer toolbox – an internal portal for sharing effective sales materials and resources. In addition, Acentria leverages the latest technology to sustain cutting-edge investments.

The company also believes in giving back to the communities it serves. “We are invested in our communities – and committed to making them better places to live,” Mason says. “We empower our team members to support our communities through volunteer work, fundraising and corporate donations. We’ve contributed over $1.5 million and supported over 125 nonprofits since we began our initiative – and that’s only the beginning.”

Mason himself is active in several local charities, including the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, the local chamber of commerce and the Florida Association of Insurance Agents.
