NFP, an Aon company, has acquired Melville, New York-based employee benefits broker Pilot Benefits Group, which trades as Pilot|RB.
Under the deal, Pilot principals Josh and Ben Senders will join NFP as senior vice presidents, reporting to Chris Feneli, managing director of Benefits for NFP’s Northeast region.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Kate Henry, president of NFP’s Northeast region, said the addition strengthens the firm’s benefits expertise in the tristate area, describing it as a strategic move to broaden the solutions available to employers and their workforces.
Pilot Benefits Group has been serving nonprofit organizations and middle market businesses for more than 60 years. Under the leadership of the Senders family, the firm has developed benefits programs designed to keep costs and risk low for its clients.
Josh and Ben Senders said joining NFP will allow the team to tap into broader resources and cross-business expertise, enabling them to expand the range of solutions offered to their existing client base.
The acquisition reflects a wider trend in the US employee benefits sector, where rising healthcare costs, regulatory complexity and the growing demand for customized wellness solutions are prompting brokers to expand their capabilities. Larger firms, such as NFP, are increasingly pursuing targeted acquisitions of specialist regional players to deepen expertise, improve market reach and enhance service offerings.
For NFP, which became part of Aon earlier this year, the deal also supports its integration strategy, combining global scale with local expertise. The company has made several acquisitions in 2025 aimed at strengthening niche service areas, particularly in employee benefits and retirement solutions, as competition for middle market and nonprofit clients intensifies.
By adding Pilot’s long-standing client relationships and tailored program design experience, NFP said it is positioning itself to further grow its presence in the Northeast and deliver more comprehensive, cost-effective benefits solutions to employers across the region.
