Allstate has announced the addition of Maria Morris to its board of directors, effective January 2, 2024.

Morris was formerly the executive vice president of global employee benefits at MetLife. She held this role for nearly 10 years, following a steady ascent through various senior leadership roles within the company. She has over three decades of insurance industry experience and is currently serving on the boards of Wells Fargo, S&P Global, and Resolution Life.

Commenting on Morris’ new position within the Allstate board, chair, president and CEO Tim Wilson remarked on the importance of her “broad insurance experience.”

“Maria’s broad insurance experience at MetLife, from employee benefits to personal property liability, will provide support in executing our plans to improve profitability,” said Wilson. “In addition, her successful strategic, operational and technology leadership will provide expertise in overseeing the strategy to increase market share and broaden protection provided to customers.”

Allstate lead director Gregg Sherrill also commented on Morris’ appointment, stating that her experience in financial services and risk management will add “yet another dimension to an exceptional board.”

Beyond her corporate roles, Morris serves as the national board chair of All Stars Projects. Additionally, she is on the boards of the Catholic Charities of New York and Helen Keller International.
