A Boca Raton-based company says it’s the first in Florida state history to offer free homeowners insurance quotes to consumers.
The new tool offers specific premium quotes from Edison Insurance Company in a market where flood zones and other considerations make obtaining an accurate quote difficult, said company president and co-founder Clint Strauch.
“The complexity and intricacies of the Florida insurance market overwhelms many homeowners when looking to buy home insurance on their own,” Strauch said. “Because of this, Edison developed a system, which allows potential policyholders to obtain and customize their own insurance quote online and transfer their information to a trusted and licensed agent to complete the transaction.”
The choice to include agents in the process came after the company surveyed its customers, 85% of whom said they preferred to make their purchases from a licensed agent. Agents participating in the program must be willing to discuss policies with prospective customers 24 hours a day, the company said.
"We've built the website to be completely user friendly, efficient and accurate. Our technology affords local insurance agencies an opportunity to connect with new customers and provides realtors with a unique tool to calculate more accurately the insurance premium portion of the mortgage," added Strauch.
