Insurance hires: Arch Capital, The Standard and Burns & Wilcox

Arch Capital Group has appointed Alexander Moczarski (pictured above left) to its board of directors, effective immediately.

Moczarski previously served as chairman of Marsh McLennan Companies, International, and has more than 45 years of experience in the global insurance industry. His career includes leadership roles at Guy Carpenter & Company LLC and various divisions of Marsh McLennan and AIG. He is currently a director of Independent Diplomat, a non-profit advisory group.

“Alex’s proven leadership record, breadth of insurance knowledge and global perspective will be a valuable addition to the Board’s overall experience and capabilities,” commented John Pasquesi, chair of Arch Capital’s board.

Meanwhile, The Standard has appointed Elizabeth Cushing (pictured above right) as second vice president and chief of staff for Employee Benefits.

Cushing joins the company with more than 25 years of experience. She previously held roles at Booz Allen Hamilton, Slalom and Korn Ferry.

At The Standard, she will serve as a strategic partner and adviser to the Employee Benefits executive team, overseeing key initiatives across various functions and departments while managing designated operational decisions and implementation.

“Elizabeth’s proven track record, diverse experience and people-centered approach will help our organization move swiftly as our scope and scale continue to grow,” said David Payne, vice president of Employee Benefits at The Standard.

In a separate statement, Burns & Wilcox has named Joseph Ross (pictured immediately above, left) as associate managing director for the San Diego office, while Obie Scott (pictured immediately above, right) was named associate managing director for the Sacramento office.

Ross, who has nearly 20 years of insurance experience, most recently served as property growth leader at US Risk, where he led a team of property underwriters and brokers. He also previously worked at Atlas General Insurance Services, supervising training, professional development and a large property book. Meanwhile, Scott, who has more than 15 years of industry experience, previously served as regional select practice leader at USI.

“Joseph and Obie are proven and outstanding leaders,” said Rich Gobler, Burns & Wilcox executive vice president, West Coast. “We look forward to them further elevating the already strong San Diego and Sacramento offices while delivering the industry-leading service and expertise that have become synonymous with Burns & Wilcox.”
