Alera Group and Brown & Riding have announced leadership appointments to strengthen their respective business operations and client service.

New managing director at Alera Group

Talicia Bashford (pictured top right) has been appointed as Alera Group’s managing director of the Midwest region, effective immediately.

In the role, Bashford will lead the firm’s growth across the region, focusing on collaboration among offices, operational efficiency and market expansion.

“Talicia is an executive who leads with both focus and empathy – for clients and colleagues,” said Gary Piantedosi, president of Alera Group. “Those characteristics, combined with her strategic insights and collaborative leadership style, will benefit both clients and colleagues, and we’re excited about the future.”

Bashford joined Alera Group in 2024 as mid-Atlantic property and casualty practice leader. She has more than 20 years of experience in leadership roles within the insurance industry, including serving as president of AssuredPartners of Chicago after previously holding the position of chief operating officer for its Illinois platform.

Brown & Riding expands transportation practice leadership

Brown & Riding has named Courtney Murphree (pictured above) as co-leader of the firm’s transportation practice, alongside Tim Pedersen Jr.

“I’m excited to partner with Courtney as we continue to expand and strengthen our transportation practice,” said Pedersen. “Her expertise will be invaluable as we grow the practice and help clients navigate the complexities of the market.”

Murphree, who was named a Brown & Riding principal in 2023, has more than 12 years of industry experience. In her new role, she will focus on advancing strategic initiatives, developing talent within the practice, and enhancing the team’s ability to provide customized solutions nationwide.

“I’m honored to step into this role alongside Tim and help guide the continued growth of the transportation practice,” said Murphree. “I’m grateful for the strong foundation that has already been built and look forward to fostering talent within our team while expanding our capabilities to better serve our clients.”
