Y-Risk, a subsidiary of The Hartford specializing in insurance for the sharing and on-demand economy, has announced the appointment of Iain Boyer (pictured above) as head of business and underwriting.

Boyer, who co-founded Y-Risk, brings extensive underwriting experience, market insights, and knowledge of the direct and reinsurance markets to his new role. He will be responsible for driving Y-Risk's growth and strategic direction. Boyer will report to Matt Scott, The Hartford's head of middle and large commercial innovation.

“Iain's dedication to the shared economy and passion for innovation will be invaluable as he takes on additional responsibilities to steer Y-Risk's strategic direction and drive future growth,” Scott said.

Boyer succeeds Bernie Horovitz (pictured below), one of the co-founders of Y-Risk, who is retiring after eight years at the company and a 35-year career in the insurance industry.

Scott acknowledged Horovitz's significant contributions, highlighting his instrumental role in challenging traditional insurance models to provide customized usage-based insurance solutions tailored to each customer's unique risk profile.

The Hartford acquired Y-Risk in 2018.

The Hartford recently announced several key leadership appointments across multiple business lines. The company also recently announced the launch of its Global Specialty Digital Solutions unit.
