Zurich expands sustainability services team

Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS) has recently expanded its sustainability services team in the United States. This expansion aims to provide additional expertise and capacity to assist customers in identifying and managing environmental, social, and governance-related risks.

Two key individuals have been appointed to newly created roles:

  • Elise White (pictured above left) has been named director of workforce resilience services
  • Jessica Balsam (pictured above right) has been appointed as head of climate solutions

Both Balsam and White report to Lisa Leftwich, who serves as the head of sustainability services for ZRS.

“Companies are dealing with a dynamic risk environment – just look at how climate change and talent have become material business risks,” Leftwich said. “To help customers address these emerging risks, we've expanded our team with climate adaptation, climate mitigation and workforce resilience specialists to support customers in their ESG-related resilience journeys, at their own pace.”

Balsam brings a wealth of experience to her role, having previously worked with Ernst & Young Climate Change and Sustainability Services, where she led global engagements focused on sustainability, social impact, and decarbonization. She has also held positions at APL Logistics, Nike, and the US Department of Energy. Balsam holds an MBA from Willamette University and a BA in sociology and gender studies from Linfield University.

White's appointment as the director of workforce resilience services expands upon ZRS' existing diversity, equity, and inclusion consulting service, offering additional social-related services that aid companies in attracting and retaining talent. White's background includes serving as project leader of claims strategy and innovation for Zurich North America, with extensive experience in workers' compensation and claims outcomes.

White holds Inclusion Score's certification in the ISO Diversity and Inclusion standard and is actively involved in organizations like Girls on the Run Atlanta and the Diversity and Talent Alliance. White graduated with a BA in criminal justice from Temple University and an MBA in organizational leadership from Wilmington University.

Earlier this week, Zurich announced the acquisition of SpearTip, a cyber counterintelligence firm. Last month, the company announced the launch of a cyber policy aimed at middle-market businesses.
