Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Max Libman to the role of lead underwriting consultant of national insurance for the company’s sharing economy & new mobility practice.

The practice was launched by Liberty Mutual earlier this year. It combines the company’s extensive commercial and personal lines expertise to better serve ride-hailing, vehicle-sharing, car subscription, and autonomous vehicle companies.

In his new role, Libman will work with brokers and buyers to offer custom risk management solutions, a release said. He will report to Liberty Mutual sharing economy & new mobility senior vice president and chief underwriting officer David Blessing.

Previously, Libman was serving as an innovation underwriter at Munich Re Specialty Insurance. He has also held key underwriting roles at AIG and Marsh. Libman received his juris doctor from Temple University.

"Max is a great addition to a team focused on transforming insurance for sharing economy and new mobility companies from a practical necessity to a competitive advantage," said Blessing.

Blessing noted that Liberty Mutual started embracing the sharing economy and new mobility sector more than a decade ago. Since then, the company has collaborated with major players in the space, such as Care by Volvo and Turo. The SVP added that Liberty Mutual’s expertise and financial strength as a multiline insurer allows it to create custom insurance solutions that not only protect clients, but also help them attract more customers.
