Erie Insurance has been recognized by the American Heart Association (AHA) for its commitment to employee health and wellbeing, as measured by the AHA’s 2022 Workplace Well-being Scorecard.

Erie received Platinum-level recognition from the AHA, putting it among the top 9% of the nearly 400 organizations that completed the scorecard in 2022. Erie has earned the Platinum award for more than 10 straight years.

The AHA’s Workforce Well-being Scorecard was developed in collaboration with scientists and industry experts to reflect the latest science on workforce health and wellbeing. The scorecard evaluates factors including a company’s mental health policies, organizational wellbeing strategies to address burnout, health equity policies, employee financial resources and more.

“Erie’s investment in health and wellbeing programs shows how much we care about our employees and their families,” said Erie benefits analyst MaryAnn Marchant, who coordinates several of the company’s health and wellbeing programs. “It’s our culture of caring that keeps us motivated to listen to our employees, explore new offerings and always strive to be an excellent and innovative partner in their health and wellbeing.”

Erie employees and their families can access comprehensive health and wellness programs, including annual biometric health screenings, health risk assessments, mental health awareness, lifestyle and condition management coaching, and programs that encourage healthy eating, exercise and annual medical and dental exams, the company said.

“We’re pleased that the scorecard data and AHA comparisons affirm that Erie’s programs are supporting a thriving workforce and our employees and families are taking steps to improve and maintain their health and live well,” said Jody Irwin, director of benefits at Erie. “While we’re grateful for this national recognition, ultimately for Erie, it’s about caring about the people who are serving our agents and customers.”

The AHA recognition is only the latest accolade won by Erie. The company was recently named number one for customer satisfaction among personal lines insurers by J.D. Power. Its internship program has also been recognized as one of the industry’s best.
