Mercury Insurance has announced an expanded partnership with iHeartRadio to recognize community heroes throughout San Diego through its Community Rockstars program at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre.
The insurance company launched the initiative to honor individuals who contribute to their communities through volunteer work, education, and philanthropic efforts. The program enters its second season after recognizing 10 exceptional individuals in 2024.
“Through our partnership with the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre, we’re shining a spotlight on those who go the extra mile and have an outsized impact on their local communities,” said Erik Thompson, VP and chief marketing officer of Mercury Insurance. “These heroes don’t do it for the recognition, which is why we want to say thank you for helping to make San Diego such an amazing place to live.”
The company has commissioned world-renowned muralist Nigel Sussman to create artwork for the Mercury Sunset Deck at the amphitheater. The mural captures San Diego’s essence while incorporating references to more than 20 popular songs. Concertgoers who identify the musical references and share their findings on social media using #MercuryMusic may receive tickets to future shows through the company’s “Surprise and Delight” campaign.
Community members can nominate local heroes through the iHeartRadio website. Selected nominees receive concert tickets in the Mercury Sunset Deck, recognition on the venue’s video screens, VIP parking, and a $200 Visa gift card.
The 2025 sponsorship includes partnerships with social media influencers to enhance the concert experience. San Diego lifestyle influencers Chris & Ashley (aka @SDFoodies) will highlight community rockstars, while host Manon Mathews will conduct interviews and select attendees for seat upgrades to the Mercury Sunset Deck.
Mercury Insurance customers attending shows at the amphitheater can receive exclusive benefits including free Fastlane entrance access and complimentary lawn chair rentals for up to four chairs per customer, with quantities limited to 50 chairs per show.
