Insurer and roadside assistance provider AA Plc, which has worked with Volkswagen Group since 2014, has announced a two-year extension of its largest manufacturing contract.

The partnership covers all vehicle brands within Volkswagen Group registered in the UK each year, as well as Volkswagen Financial Services, and provides access to the AA’s full entitlement of roadside benefits including national recovery and onward travel.

“This is in line with our key strategic B2B direction putting service innovation and data at heart of what we do,” said the AA, which will not only increase the number of dedicated specialist Volkswagen Group technicians by 10 but also upgrade and replace its fleet of 90 Volkswagen Transporters.

In addition, motorists are covered throughout the continent through the AA’s European Breakdown service. A multi-lingual call centre in Lyon operates in conjunction with ARC Europe Group.

“I am delighted that we will continue our great working relationship with Volkswagen Group for the next two years,” commented AA managing director for roadside services Gareth Kirkwood. “Keeping drivers safe and connected in terms of the health of their car and up-to-the-minute information to improve their journey are just some of the areas that we will be working on together.

“We want to ensure all Volkswagen Group customers have a great driving experience.”

Meanwhile AA chief executive Simon Breakwell noted that forming, extending, and enhancing closer B2B partnerships with major motor manufacturers is key to the firm’s strategy.
