If you thought that the COVID-19 pandemic had meant crime had ground to a halt, then you may have to think again.

Tracker has just released its latest statistics showing the number of recoveries it made during the month of July at 37, with the total value recovered at £942,361.

Among its recovery highlights for the month were an £8,500 Audi A8, stolen from London and recovered in Dorset in under five hours, with five arrests made. Another incident saw a Range Rover Sport worth a whopping £85,000 stolen in London and recovered in less than 45 minutes.

In what may be food for thought for insurers, the latest statistics mean that its cumulative totals now stand at 26,481 tracker recoveries at a total value of £556 million. It has also aided in 2,755 arrests.

Brokers may wish to remind their clients that even during these times when we are, largely, still driving a lot less than previously, the risk of car theft remains high making it vital to ensure proper security devices are in place, that the car is parked safely, particularly overnight, and that a thorough insurance policy is taken out.
