Acrisure has finalised the integration of Universalis into its brand portfolio, reintroducing the long-standing brokerage as Acrisure Portugal Insurance Broker following a two-year transition.
The name change follows Acrisure’s acquisition of Universalis in 2023. Founded over 50 years ago, the Portuguese brokerage will continue operating with its current service portfolio, which includes insurance solutions for families and businesses, as well as trade credit insurance. The company maintains a client base of more than 25,000 and operates 12 offices across Portugal.
“This milestone marks the culmination of a two-year integration process and reinforces our long-term commitment to our clients and partners,” said José Rodrigues, CEO of Acrisure Portugal. He added that the company remains under the same leadership and continues to deliver services through its established teams, now as part of the global Acrisure group.
Acrisure International president Jason Howard acknowledged the potential within the Portuguese market. He credited the local leadership for their contribution over the past two years in introducing Acrisure’s business model and said the company plans to continue working with the team on future developments.
The rebrand involves no changes to the company’s management structure, operational model, or client relationships. Legal and regulatory conditions remain the same, and the business continues under the supervision of ASF – Autoridade de Supervisão de Seguros e Fundos de Pensões, Portugal’s insurance and pension funds regulator.
The new name and identity will be implemented gradually across all communication platforms, including the company’s website, social media, client materials, and internal documents.
Acrisure, headquartered in the United States, provides a range of services including insurance, reinsurance, payroll, employee benefits, cybersecurity, and real estate. Over the past 12 years, the company has reported revenue growth from $38 million to nearly $5 billion. It currently operates in 23 countries.
