Allianz Holdings has been awarded gold status by the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme.

The government-backed scheme aims to ensure fair treatment for current and former armed forces personnel and their families while encouraging companies to support the defence community. Employers can be awarded different levels of accreditation, with Allianz previously achieving bronze status in 2020 and silver status in 2021.

This latest achievement highlights the ways in which Allianz has demonstrated its dedication to supporting the armed forces community. Among the actions undertaken by the company include employing over 80 veterans and reservists, as well as introducing a new reserve forces policy, which grants additional leave for reservist colleagues to attend training.

Allianz has also taken proactive measures to ensure that armed forces personnel do not face any disadvantages during the recruitment and selection process. Additionally, the company’s workforce is made aware of its positive policies toward defence personnel issues.

Another important initiative is the establishment of an employee-led network open to all veterans, reservists, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and family members of service personnel.

Furthermore, Allianz has forged a relationship with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), a government-funded initiative that aids service leavers in finding new opportunities after leaving the military. Allianz’s engineering team regularly participates in CTP recruitment fairs and online chat sessions. They also release dedicated CTP recruitment advertisements.

Commenting on the gold status accreditation, Julie Harrison, chief HR officer of Allianz Holdings, emphasised the company’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and being an attractive employer.

“It is fantastic to be awarded gold level and for all of the hard work of our people to be reflected in the award,” said Harrison. “We’re always striving to be the most inclusive employer we can be, and this accreditation demonstrates that we’re more than on the right path.”

“While the accreditation stops at gold that doesn’t mean our story has ended, we’re always looking at the best ways to support our people and to be an attractive employer – insurance is a profession with many career options, and we want to attract the best people to join us.”
