The agreement increases Alps’ delegated authority binder by 25%, providing additional A-rated capacity to support its plans to expand its product range and claims operations.
Under the terms of the deal, Alps will hold a direct binder with AmTrust covering motor, landlord, family and commercial legal protection products, as well as road rescue, motor excess and sole trader add-ons. These products are distributed through Alps’ quote-and-bind platform. The agreement also includes sub-delegated authority and extended claims handling through its affiliated law firm, Alps Legal.
The arrangement follows an audit process assessing Alps’ operational capabilities and its delivery of insurance solutions to intermediaries. The firm is also considering new product developments and opportunities to expand its claims handling activities.
In December, Alps moved its landlord legal expenses portfolio to AmTrust. The agreement, structured under full delegated authority, allows Alps to retain direct control over policy administration and claims handling via Alps Legal.
According to a recent statement, the transition has led to updates in policy wordings based on industry benchmarking and broker input. These include expanded cover for breaches of tenancy agreements, such as anti-social behaviour and more flexible terms around claims reporting and cancellations.
Policyholders can now also claim compensation for court attendance expenses. The revised policy applies across the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, with a £50,000 indemnity limit. Claims are managed via Alps’ digital portal, which provides real-time updates.
Michelle O’Reilly, managing director at Alps, said the company welcomed the opportunity to further extend its relationship with AmTrust. She said both organisations shared a focus on sustainable growth and developing their presence in the market.
According to O’Reilly, the agreement supports brokers by offering access to a range of add-on products backed by A-rated capacity. She added that the partnership would also ensure clients continue to receive specialist support throughout the claims process.
