AmTrust International has announced two key appointments to its claims team in London.

The firm has promoted Tom Maloney to the role of head of claims for AmTrust International Specialty and chief claims officer for AmTrust Europe. Meanwhile, Michael Walsh has been appointed delegated claims manager under Maloney.

Maloney joined AmTrust in 2016 and has been involved in the development of the group claims technical and operation framework which integrated the firm’s claims platform with Lloyd’s. He has held leadership and managerial roles with CNA Hardy, Alterra at Lloyd’s Limited, Aon, and Marsh.

“Tom’s appointment reflects the talent and depth of expertise that we’re able to draw on within AmTrust International,” said Angel Mas, specialty business unit managing director and chief executive officer of AmTrust Europe. “His appointment forms a crucial part of our strategic development. Tom will be responsible for creating a claims centre of excellence, with focus on strong technical expertise and driving a customer centric culture.”

Meanwhile, Walsh has over 20 years’ experience within claims and joins AmTrust International from the Corporation of Lloyd’s where he worked within the claims performance team responsible for the identification and remediation of underperformance across the market.

“Michael brings with him a strong operational and claims background and comes with a wealth of experience within delegated claims,” said Mas. “We are looking forward to him joining the team and continuing to drive AmTrust International specialty claims forward.”
