Global professional services firm Aon has named Tony Day (pictured left) and Julia Dickson (pictured right) as head of crisis management and head of war & terrorism, respectively.

The appointments strengthen Aon’s political violence and terrorism team, a release said.

As head of crisis management, Day will report to Aon global specialty products leader Bernhard Steves and head of property, casualty and crisis management Helene Madell. Meanwhile, Dickson will report to Tony Day.

Day most recently served as chief broking officer for crisis management at Aon, a position he had held since 2017. Prior to this, he was head of global terrorism, and was also head of international terrorism – Day’s first role when he joined Aon in 2013. Before joining Aon, Day held political violence and terrorism-related roles at Chesterfield Insurance Brokers Limited and Crescent Global Limited.

Dickson joined Aon in 2013, and most recently served as head of international war and terrorism. Prior to Aon, she specialised in diamond broking for international diamond broker and consultant Hennig.

“These are two strong appointments for Aon and we are very pleased to fill these key positions from within our existing talent pool, demonstrating the opportunities for progression at the firm,” said Helene Madell. “Tony and Julia have strong knowledge of the industry and have produced exceptional outcomes for clients, so I look forward to continuing my work with them in their new roles.”

“Tony and Julia have developed a talented team of brokers and nurtured an experienced leadership team which has enabled incredible growth and innovation,” added Bernhard Steves. “Their effective collaboration has ensured Aon remains at the forefront of the London market and I will be excited to see the direction in which they take their new roles.”

Earlier this month, Aon appointed Matthew Alcott as its new UK chief commercial officer. When he first joined Aon, Alcott led sales and marketing as part of Aon’s UK commercial risk business, then served as regional managing director for the central region within the commercial risk business. Most recently, he had served as regional director for the south since late 2021.
