Ardonagh Advisory has acquired Anderson & Co (Holdings) Limited (ACH) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Anderson & Co (Insurance Brokers) Limited (ACIB).
Anderson & Co, established over 50 years ago, is a broker based in Blackpool specialising in commercial and personal lines. The business, acquired by Christine McLellan in 1993, has built a reputation for client service.
Under the deal, McLellan will continue to lead the company as managing director. The Anderson & Co team will join the North division of Ardonagh Advisory General Insurance (GI) Broking, under the leadership of Stephen Boyd, North Divisional managing director.
Commenting on the deal, Boyd said Anderson & Co’s values align perfectly with Ardonagh’s. “With their decades of expertise and strong reputation, they will play a key role in strengthening our presence in Lancashire and driving future growth.”
The acquisition expands Ardonagh Advisory’s presence in the North by incorporating an established brokerage into its portfolio.
“This is an exciting step for Anderson & Co as we join forces with Ardonagh Advisory,” said McLellan. “Their resources and support will allow us to enhance our offering while staying true to the values that have defined our business for over 50 years.”
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
This recent acquisition marks the continuation of Ardonagh Advisory’s M&A activity. In August last year, the company agreed to acquire RK Henshall & Co Limited, a chartered insurance broker in Cheshire.
It also announced its acquisition of BP Insurance Brokers two months earlier. Ardonagh said its purchase of the Lancashire-based broker helped bolster its specialist personal lines offerings on a national scale.
Other acquisitions last year included the expansion of its commercial insurance footprint by acquiring Southport Insurance Brokers Limited, and its swoop for Westfield Brokers, which allowed it to expand its commercial brokerage operations.
