Marguerite Brosnan, director of retail direct at AXA Ireland, has been promoted to chief executive effective January 1 next year.

The Bank of Ireland veteran is succeeding CEO Philip Bradley, who is retiring at the end of 2022 after 44 years with the insurance group. Bradley has been at the helm of AXA Ireland – which spans the insurer’s operations in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland – since 2015.

“I look forward to building on the very considerable strengths of the business both in the Republic of Ireland and in Northern Ireland, continuing to expand our business, responding to our customers’ and partners’ changing needs, and playing an active role in communities throughout Ireland,” said the soon-to-be chief, who is both honoured and excited to have been appointed.

On LinkedIn, AXA Ireland’s internal communications and engagement head Niall Bradley cited the outgoing CEO for his “incredible” career while also congratulating Brosnan on her promotion.

Brosnan came onboard AXA Ireland in December 2020.
