There is a new leadership team for the UK and Lloyd’s region at AXA XL.

With immediate effect, the company has established several client-facing members in line with its partner strategy and aim to simplify its structure as it looks to have more success in the regional markets.

“I am pleased to announce the new leadership team for the UK & Lloyd’s region,” said Sean McGovern, CEO for the UK & Lloyd’s market. “This is the latest step in our journey to optimise our structure by striking the right balance between local and global, in order to ensure we serve our clients and brokers to the best of our ability.

“This leadership team is filled with highly experienced individuals who I’m confident will help to ensure we are the insurance partner of choice in this important region.”

Taking the role of chief distribution officer of UK & Lloyd’s is Elie Hanna, who will lead the execution of the firm’s “go to” market, trading and external marketing and communication strategies. The idea is to align these to its regional portfolio underwriting and legal entity platform strategies. Hanna arrives after spending more than a decade at AIG, before joining AXA back in 2016 as global head of mid-market and broker engagement. Most recently, he was global head of broker management for AXA XL.

Meanwhile, taking the role of chief underwriting officer for the UK & Lloyd’s is Luis Prato, who was previously CUO for the UK regional and legal entities. His experience includes time with the likes of Allied World Insurance, and AEGIS London, before making the switch to the old Catlin brand back in 2008, then as head of downstream energy, UK & Ireland.

Completing the trio, meanwhile, is Martin Turner as chief claims officer for the UK & Lloyd’s. Turner is well-known having been in the London insurance market for more than 30 years, joining AXA XL back in the Brockbank Syndicate Management days in 1998.
