Barbican Insurance Group has bolstered its energy team with the appointment of Marc Sullivan as a class underwriter for downstream energy.

Sullivan said he will further develop the company’s product suite to provide extensive coverage that spans the full spectrum of upstream, midstream and downstream risks.

He will also enhance the insurer’s cross-class offering to include liability, terrorism, cyber and other lines of business.

“This will enable us to further expand our worldwide footprint within the energy sector,” Sullivan said.

Sullivan, who joins from Starr Underwriting Agencies, will report to Oliver Decombes, divisional head of energy, power and utilities.

“Over the last eight years, Marc has succeeded in growing a comprehensive portfolio across an international client base within the energy sector,” Decombes said.

“He is a highly respected figure within the London Market and I am sure will make a very positive contribution to our ongoing efforts to expand our business and capitalise on opportunities for sustainable growth in this highly competitive and dynamic sector.”

Sullivan spent eight years in the onshore energy division of Starr, working as a senior underwriter across oil, petrochemical and chemical lines of business. He began his career in 2006 at Hiscox’s property division.
