Beazley's former chief risk officer left the FTSE 100 insurer after allegations of non-financial misconduct. Rob Anarfi, who joined the specialist insurer in 2012, departed early last year.

Anarfi also chaired the Lloyd's of London DEI committee and sat on the Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) board until February 2025. He had been one of six diverse role models whose portraits, painted by Franklyn Rodgers in 2023, hung in Lloyd's Old Library.

Beazley confirmed that Anarfi left in early 2025, City AM reported. “As Mr Anarfi is no longer employed by Beazley, we will not be commenting further,” a company spokesperson said.

Anarfi was listed as a director of Beazley Furlonge, a Lloyd's managing agent, until he resigned in February 2025, according to Companies House.

Regulatory focus on workplace conduct

Beazley, which has agreed to be acquired by Zurich for £8 billion, is regulated by Lloyd's of London, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). The FCA's new rules on non-financial misconduct take effect in September 2026, with employers expected to handle most cases.

Final guidance issued by the regulator in December 2025 confirmed that responsibility for preventing and addressing non-financial misconduct rests with firms themselves, with the Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) supporting the FCA's approach.

Non-financial misconduct describes alleged inappropriate conduct in the workplace. The specific claims against Anarfi are not known.

Lloyd's of London has taken a firm line on such conduct as it works to reshape the market's image.

In 2023, the chief executives of CFC Group and CFC Underwriting left their roles after a Lloyd's investigation into non-financial misconduct allegations.

Lloyd's declined to comment, and the FCA said it does not comment on individuals. Anarfi has been approached by City AM for comment.
