The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has selected its Young Broker of the Year 2021 – Alex Margolin of Sioma Insurance Consultants.

BIBA’s Young Broker of the Year Award recognises the performance of younger brokers aged 35 and below, while encouraging commitment to the future professionalism of insurance broking. A release revealed that the two runners-up for the award were Colette Crawford of Marsh and Ola Jacob Raji of FloodFlash.

In addition to receiving industry recognition, Margolin was given a cash award.

“We were unable to run our young broker competition last year because of the pandemic however the candidates we saw this year were fantastic which can only speak positively for the future of our sector,” said BIBA CEO Steve White.

White also discussed how each of the three finalists made the cut, and why Margolin was chosen as this year’s winner.

“Collette showed a clear enthusiasm for insurance broking evidenced by her exemplary track record with Marsh and her work with BIBA. Ola showed us a real drive to achieve personal and professional goals and working in a fast-moving tech company was accomplished and mature beyond his years.

“In a strong field, Alex pipped the other finalists through his charisma and confidence, on top of clear and impressive business achievements.”

The Young Broker Award is judged by a panel of independent insurance professionals. At present, BIBA membership includes about 1,800 regulated firms.
