The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has announced the creation of The Cyber Hub, in collaboration with specialist insurance provider CFC Underwriting (CFC).

Made for members of BIBA, it will be a feature of the annual BIBA conference which will showcase the latest in cyber technology, expert insights, case studies, as well as an interactive “beat-the-hacker” game.

“Not everyone is confident to talk cyber insurance. The Cyber Hub is a relaxed space for brokers to learn about the proactive levers that can help their clients prevent and recover from cyberattacks,” said Shaune Worrall, the deputy head of general insurance at BIBA.

“The experts will de-bunk some myths and show how accessible cyber insurance as a service really is,” he added.

The UK government estimates that there were about 2.39 million cases of cybercrime affecting businesses in the country last year, while there were 49,000 incidents of cyber fraud.

Through The Cyber Hub, BIBA members, as well as conference attendees, will learn about the importance of cyber insurance for businesses, several strategies that will help in selling cyber insurance to clients, components of a good and effective cyber policy, and the future of cyber insurance. Attendees will also be able to access CFC’s team of cyber underwriters, security experts, incident responders, and claims adjusters.

“As BIBA’s official cyber scheme provider for 20 years, we’re delighted to sponsor the Cyber Hub, a space for all brokers to develop their cyber knowledge,” said Pat Brice, distribution director at CFC.

“We’re looking forward to taking brokers on a journey in this immersive experience and equipping them with the expertise and skills to educate clients on cyber threats and the critical value of cyber insurance,” he added.

The Cyber Hub will be made available to attendees of the BIBA Conference on May 15 and 16. It will be located at the foyer of Manchester Central during the event.
