Cobra London Markets continues hiring spree

Insurance News

“We have become the employer of choice for ambitious high-quality insurance professionals.”

Those were the words of Richard Scott, CEO at Citynet and Cobra London Markets, after it continued its hiring spree with a new head of property and casualty.

The company has brought in Tom Shipston (pictured), who has spent the last 12 years working across the London market. With time spent at the likes of RK Harrison at the start of his career, Taskers & Partners more recently, and even founding his own brokerage in between, Shipston is now ready to bring his goals to life with a new challenge.

“Cobra and Citynet are well-established businesses operating in the London market for over 20 years,” he said. “The chance to work with their management team that champions integrity and shares the same ambitions and passion as me is a breath of fresh air and an environment I can’t wait to be a part of.”

Shipston highlighted the challenges facing the broking sector currently and that COVID-19 is forcing the whole world to change.

“Fearlessness is not to be confused with recklessness, but ultimately with a collective can-do mindset, companies can use this situation to capitalise on the enforced changes these unprecedented events have brought upon us,” he said.

Meanwhile, Scott noted that he had “respected and admired” Shipston for years.

“When we realised he was available, we moved quickly and decisively to bring him aboard,” he said. “He is exactly the type of individual we are looking for. He is self-motivated, has a real determination to succeed and realises that service is at the very centre of what we do. We have very ambitious growth plans in place and Tom has the energy and drive to ensure these are delivered.”
