When one door closes, another one opens – and as Phil Sloan retires from the position of director of underwriting at Coverys Managing Agency Limited, his departure has given an opportunity to Robert Forster.

Forster steps into the role with more than three decades of experience backing up his promotion. Before joining the Lloyd’s managing agent of Syndicates 1975, 1991 and 3330, he held the position of chief underwriting officer and active underwriter of Novae Syndicate 2007. It was noted in a release that under Forster’s leadership, Novae was able to transform from a long-tail casualty focus to a short-tail underwriting strategy with consistent profitability.

“Rob is a terrific addition to our senior team, and I am very pleased to welcome him to Coverys,” said CEO Robin McCoy. “He is the ideal candidate to maintain and build on our success to date and to help continue to drive this business forward. He is renowned as an excellent underwriter with a clear entrepreneurial approach and strategic ability. These characteristics will be key to realising our ambitions for Coverys in the Lloyd’s market.”

Meanwhile, Forster pointed to Coverys having a “market-leading position” in a “crowded space.”

“I am looking forward to joining Coverys’ excellent team and developing our underwriting capacity further,” he said.
