A bootcamp for insurance? That’s what Davies is hoping will bring new skills to the market.

The professional services and tech firm is launching its first bootcamp on November 28, and will look to develop budding learners across a 10-week programme. The bootcamp is open to anyone aged over 19 and is fully funded by the Greater London Authority.

The bootcamp aims to address the issues that insurers have in recruiting and retaining talent. It contains two elements from the Chartered Insurance Institute, the CII Foundation Insurance Test and CII IF1 – Principles of insurance.

According to a release announcing the deal, achieving this will allow progression to a reduced duration Insurance Professional Level 4 apprenticeship, and skip the Level 3 Insurance Practitioner programme entirely. According to Lisa Williams, corporate development manager of the CII, the institute is “delighted to offer its support” with those who select the bootcamp enjoying the benefits of CII membership.

“The bootcamp is an excellent opportunity for our insurer clients to access a pool of diverse talent to recruit into their apprenticeship programmes,” said Carolyn Blunt, growth and client success director at Davies. “Traditionally, people tend to either fall into insurance or are guided into it by family members. A downside of this is that, as an industry, it lacks some diversity, and that’s something we at Davies are really keen to help change and modernise. I’m looking forward to seeing how the bootcamp will help our clients attract a diverse talent pool, including candidates with protected characteristics and those facing barriers to employment.”
