Direct Line Insurance Group Plc (DLG) and Hargreaves Lansdown Plc have separately announced the appointment of DLG chief executive Penny James (pictured) as senior independent director at Hargreaves Lansdown.

Effective on September 01, the arrival will also see James join the pensions and savings specialist’s board risk committee and nomination committee. Meanwhile it was noted that she currently does not own any Hargreaves Lansdown shares.

“I’m delighted to welcome Penny to the group board,” commented Hargreaves Lansdown chair Deanna Oppenheimer. “She brings exceptional skills with broad ranging financial services experience – in particular in leading digital innovation and transformation – and supports the continued strengthening and diversity of the group board.”

Aside from her current remit at the helm of DLG, James’s credentials include time spent at Prudential Plc, Omega Insurance Holdings, Zurich Financial Services, and Admiral Group Plc.
