Direct Line Insurance Group Plc (Direct Line Group or DLG), whose former chief executive stepped down nearly seven months ago, is reportedly wooing Aviva’s Adam Winslow to take on the top post.

Winslow, UK & Ireland general insurance CEO at Aviva, is said to have been approached by DLG about potentially succeeding Penny James. Citing industry sources, Sky News pointed to supposedly ongoing discussions between the two camps.

According to the news organisation, DLG and Aviva both declined to comment on Saturday.

Currently holding the fort at DLG is acting chief executive Jon Greenwood, the company’s chief commercial officer. He will continue to serve as acting CEO until DLG completes its search for a new boss.

Meanwhile it’s unclear whether other contenders remain in the running.

Winslow, whose credentials include time spent at Allianz and AIG, first joined Aviva in 2007. He left after six years, before returning in 2021.
