Ecclesiastical Insurance has a new risk management director in the form of Jo Whyman (pictured).

Bringing over three decades of financial services and risk management experience, Whyman replaces Mark Matthews who retired last year. He makes the switch from Zurich, where the key hire spent more than 25 years and introduced a number of technologies designed to enhance the risk management proposition.

“I am thrilled to be joining Ecclesiastical, which has such a great history,” commented Whyman. “Its reputation as an insurer with incredibly deep market and customer knowledge and unique societal values really resonated with me, and I am excited to be part of the Ecclesiastical team.

“It is a real privilege to be the custodian of this wonderful, longstanding, and renowned risk management team.”

Whyman’s appointment is effective immediately. The new director will lead the in-house risk management team, which offers specialist support and advice to Ecclesiastical customers across the UK.

Happy to welcome the key hire, UK general insurance managing director John Blundell noted: “He has a wealth of experience in the industry and his focus on digital solutions will help to drive forward our approach to risk management innovation.”
