FBD Holdings Plc has hired Tomás O’Midheach as chief executive officer and executive director of both the group and of FBD Insurance Plc. He joins the Irish property & casualty insurance giant on February 01 next year.
Interim CEO Paul D’Alton is staying put until the arrival of O’Midheach, who brings 25 years of financial services industry experience to the post. The incoming CEO is making the switch from AIB (Allied Irish Banks), where he has worked since 2006 and currently serves as deputy chief executive.
“I am delighted to be joining FBD Group and look forward to working with the team to help drive the next stage in the group’s development,” commented O’Midheach, whose credentials include 11 years spent at Citibank in the UK, Spain, and Dublin.
Lifting the lid on the regulator-approved appointment, FBD chair Liam Herlihy cited an extensive search process. Herlihy added that the key hire is highly regarded in the financial community and has considerable knowledge of the financial services landscape in Ireland.
Meanwhile it’s not clear where D’Alton is headed come February.
