Tasker Insurance Group (TIG) has made its second swoop of the year.

Hobbs Broking Limited, which trades as Hobbs Associates, is now part of TIG – specifically of the specialist retail broking division within the group’s retail business Tasker Insurance Brokers (TIB).

The now completed acquisition, financial terms of which were not disclosed, comes after TIG snapped up specialist tour operator & travel insurance broker Castle Insurance Consultants Ltd in the first quarter.

Hobbs specialises in technology and life sciences and is poised to add depth to the specialist broking division at TIB. In addition, its arrival extends the retail brokerage’s footprint into the Midlands, with Hobbs retaining its site in Leicestershire.

“We have known the team at Hobbs for some time and are delighted that they have decided to join us at Tasker Insurance,” commented TIG chief executive Robert Organ (pictured).

“We have a clear vision to build our specialist broking capabilities in the areas of technology, life sciences, PI (professional indemnity), financial lines, and medical malpractice in addition to extending our regional retail broking footprint. The Hobbs team joining us takes us a step closer to achieving this priority.”

The acquired company’s managing director Tony Hobbs described TIG as a business they can trust.

“We are excited to be able to work with the Tasker team who will bring additional capabilities into our business to help us achieve our growth aspirations,” commented the MD, whose workforce was described by TIG specialist broking and markets director Barry Reynolds as “such a capable team.”

Reynolds added: “With two acquisitions of specialist broking businesses being completed within six months, there is real momentum within the business. It’s an exciting place to be.”
