Marsh names new London market leader for key practice

Marsh has turned to a renowned expert to help boost its power and renewable energy practice.

Rob Hale has been brought in as London market leader for the division, a role he will officially take up in the first quarter of next year. He is set to report to CEO, UK & Ireland, energy and power, at Marsh JLT Specialty, Andrew Herring, and will be based in London.

“Marsh is committed to serving our power and renewable energy clients around the world as they continue to transition to clean energy and renewable resources, such as solar and offshore wind technologies,” said Herring. “Rob, with his specialist market knowledge and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities our clients face, is ideally placed to lead the business’s London market placement strategy and assist in the development of the next generation of power supply.”

In a release announcing the appointment, Marsh declared that Hale will have overall responsibility for the business’s placement strategy and will also be involved in the creation of new services and solutions for the renewable energy industry.

Hale is making the switch from Aon where he was managing director of the brokerage giant’s portfolio solutions business. He has also led Aon’s London-based power practice, and held specialist energy broker roles at Willis Towers Watson.

“COVID-19 has accelerated the energy agenda globally, with many countries reassessing their reliance on traditional sources amid a drop in demand during the pandemic,” said Hale. “I look forward to playing a key role in working with Marsh’s clients and the London insurance market, as we shape the future direction of energy around the world.”
