McGill and Partners has expanded its structured solutions team by hiring new partner Dan Cordina, who joined from EY on Jan. 1.

Cordina leads retrospective reinsurance and legacy transactions for risks attaching to old underwriting years, and he reports to Andy Hill, partner in Structured Solutions at McGill and Partners.

According to the specialist insurance and reinsurance brokerage, Cordina’s appointment is part of the continued build-out of its structured solutions practice, which provides bespoke reinsurance coverage to clients’ capital and earnings requirements.

Cordina has extensive experience in the European insurance and reinsurance transactions and restructuring space, having spent more than a decade at EY, one of the big four accountancy firms. During his career, he successfully executed various economic and legal finality solutions, including traditional legacy reinsurance deals, as well as the sale of a specialist legacy carrier to private equity, and several Part VII transfers. Cordina is a qualified chartered accountant, a member of the Insolvency Practitioners’ Association and the Joint Insolvency Examination Board.

“Dan is another strong hire as we continue to grow the structured solutions team at McGill & Partners,” Hill said. “He has extensive experience in the legacy space and is well known and well regarded as a highly skilled and effective operator. I’m excited to welcome him to the team and for what the year has ahead.”
