NFU Mutual is welcoming a new non-executive director (NED) next month.

Joining the rural insurer’s main board is David Roper (pictured), who brings nearly three decades of experience from PwC. More than half of Roper’s time there was spent in his capacity as financial services partner.

“Having worked with many of the UK’s life and general insurers during my time at PwC, I have long admired NFU Mutual’s customer focus and financial performance,” said the incoming board member, whose appointment takes effect on September 01.

“I’m therefore particularly delighted to have been invited to join its board. I look forward to getting to know colleagues throughout the group and working with them over the coming years.”

Roper also serves as NED and audit committee chair at Atom Bank, as well as deputy chair of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Northern College of Music, and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

“I am delighted to welcome David to NFU Mutual’s board of directors and very much look forward to working with him,” commented group chief executive Lindsay Sinclair.
