Global Risk Partners’ (GRP) Plum Underwriting has announced the expansion of its broker scheme portfolio, snapping up Heidi Saxty (pictured) from Midas Underwriting for the newly created role of schemes underwriting head.

Saxty, who has nearly two decades of experience in household schemes underwriting management, will be in charge of delivering profitable growth from existing and new scheme opportunities alike using Plum’s expertise in the non-standard and specialist household market.

“Heidi brings Plum enormous non-standard technical underwriting expertise and strong broker relationship development experience,” commented Clive Nathan, chief executive of underwriting at GRP. “She will play an important role in helping us maintain our position as a market-leading MGA as we expand our niche and flexible underwriting footprint through our range of products to brokers via our multiple distribution channels.”

Meanwhile Plum Underwriting’s Simon Lewer is moving up from his business development role to become GRP’s business development director of underwriting. He will represent Plum Underwriting, Camberford Law, City of London Underwriting, and European Property Underwriting.

“I know Clive well and am very much looking forward to working with him to help take the underwriting division forward, in particular making sure that brokers take full advantage of our portfolio of products and services,” said Lewer, who has been with Plum Underwriting since 2015.

Lewer also worked at the likes of Pen Underwriting and Towergate

“Simon is my first senior appointment since joining GRP and I am delighted he has chosen to take on this new challenge,” noted Nathan. “The underwriting division has grown rapidly to become a £100 million GWP business, and we are now well-placed to continue with this trajectory, building on the strength of our highly regarded specialist portfolio.”
