With COVID-19 likely to lead to a “major period of transformation and consolidation”, according to partner Rupert Rickard, his firm – Stephens Rickard Ltd – has made a change of its own by swooping on a new director.

The international specialist reinsurance executive search firm has brought in David Cooper (pictured) as director with immediate effect. Cooper holds experience across the life and non-life markets, and will be based in the London office.

“I’m delighted to be joining Stephens Rickard; the team provides an exceptional level of service to their clients, including broadening talent assessment, succession and development services,” Cooper said. “Furthermore, their quantitative candidate and diversity and inclusion (D&I) assessment reporting goes beyond the traditional search product to provide insightful data on every project. I look forward to re-engaging with my contacts over the next few months.”

Rickard described Cooper as a “consummate professional” but went on to note that the insurance industry would have a lot to adjust to, amid new ways of working.

“As a whole, businesses have adapted well to digital and virtual working arrangements, highlighting how the industry has embraced technology,” he said. “That said, retaining and attracting the right people to navigate the continually evolving and unpredictable market environment will be imperative to our clients.

“Furthermore, one of the most promising market environments in decades is attracting new sources of private equity and trade capital, creating competition for strategic leadership and talent. With David on the team, we are better able to ensure our clients are equipped to address new challenges and to identify and respond fully to the opportunities.”
