The Clear Group has today revealed the appointment of Mike Edgeley (pictured) as its next CEO.
Edgeley, who most recently served as MD at A-Plan Insurance brings significant insurance sector experience to the position, including roles at BDL, Lancaster Insurance and Capita plc. Before joining the insurance sector, he spent 17 years in the military, holding several leadership and operational positions in the Parachute Regiment and he was a staff officer in the Ministry of Defence.
In a statement, Clear noted that Edgeley’s appointment, which is subject to regulatory approval, reaffirms Clear’s ambition to continue making strategic acquisitions. It stated that Clear is currently on course to reach its target of £50 million revenue during 2022. Edgeley will join the main Clear Group board and the boards of Clear Insurance Management, Morrison Insurance Solutions and the Brokerbility businesses, Churchill and BHIB.
Clear’s founders, Howard Lickens and Gary O’Donnell, will continue to play an integral part in the business’s growth plans with Lickens taking on the role of executive chairman while O’Donnell becomes group M&A director.
Commenting on the changes, Lickens said that Clear is fortunate to have found someone with Edgeley’s experience and capability to take the business forward and that the appointment reflects the pace at which the business is growing.
“Clear has grown significantly in recent years,” he said, “and the management team we have built, led by Mike, is in great shape to deliver on our next phase of development.”
Meanwhile, Edgeley also highlighted his delight at joining the business and noted the group has a “unique proposition” for brokers at a crossroads who are seeking either a good home for their business or the advantages of the collegiate model of Brokerbility.
“Our proposition for customers grows as we develop our product base and access to markets further,” Edgeley said. “I’m very much looking forward, along with Howard, Gary and the team at Clear, to deliver on the next stage of our growth journey.”
