Travel insurer Voyager has launched two new products for expatriates worldwide and people travelling to high-risk areas.

The first product, GlobalVoyager, caters to individuals, families and groups of expats and international citizens who travel to and from any destination for leisure or business.

Available to residents of almost every country, it covers emergency medical expenses and provides evacuation and assistance benefits.

“GlobalVoyager is the world’s first global travel insurance product that delivers ‘UK style’ comprehensive cover and flexibility making it a one-stop solution for travel insurance for the global traveller,” said Voyager deputy managing director Carl Carter.

“This is a significant opportunity for brokers and intermediaries of all sizes, as this product can cater for such a wide range of residencies as well as destinations,” Carter added.

The other new product is High Risk Voyager, which has been specifically designed for individuals or groups travelling from the UK, European Economic Area and overseas dependent territories to areas that are deemed to be of high-risk by governments.

Typical retail travel insurance policy will not cover these areas, which include warzones, conflict and crisis zones, disaster relief and humanitarian aid locations.

Seen to benefit from this product are individuals and groups in journalism and media, humanitarian aid, disaster and relief work, conservation, research, charity and missionary work.

Carter described the latest product as “ground-breaking.”

“High Risk Voyager is the only online and easily accessible product available capable of offering such comprehensive travel covers for those travelling to these high risk areas offering a real solution to aid workers, journalists and other professions that travel to the world’s hot spots,” he said.
