Warranty and insurance provider NHBC is looking to the future with the launch of apprenticeships.

The company has become an Education and Skills Funding Agency approved provider and has already launched an apprenticeship scheme, welcoming its first cohort to its Construction Site Supervisor (CSS) apprenticeship.

The idea behind the apprenticeship is to support the sector as it faces a skills shortage, which has been further impacted by the pandemic. NHBC head of training and analysis Darryl Stewart believes the move represents an “exciting new chapter” for the firm.

“Our apprenticeships provide a first rung on the ladder, along with a solid understanding of the issues and opportunities facing the industry,” he said.

“We chose Construction Site Supervisor as our initial apprenticeship to underscore the vital role that site supervisors and managers play in the delivery of high-quality new homes. Our years of experience and data demonstrate that a great site manager makes a very positive impact on quality standards.”

The company is also now accepting expressions of interest for its 2021 cohort.
