As technology continues to evolve quickly, many schools find it hard to keep up with the latest tools that could protect them from cyberattacks. Ecclesiastical Insurance is now hoping to come to the rescue as it has launched a free Cyber Ready toolkit to help brokers support their education clients.

Ecclesiastical’s research revealed that 56% of teachers believe that their students are more tech-savvy than them. Half of the respondents cannot keep up with the latest trends, while 35% said resources become out of date quickly.

The new Cyber Ready toolkit aims to help teachers engage their nine- to 13-year-old students in cyber safety lessons. It includes visual aids, scenarios that students can relate to, and a creative approach that helps the class to explore a wide range of cyber safety issues.

Brokers can download the Cyber Ready toolkit on the Ecclesiastical website for free to share with their clients.

“As a specialist insurer of schools in the UK, we believe brokers play an important role in understanding the issues that their education clients face. Our research has found that engaging children in online safety lessons can be difficult for teachers. The online world moves at a phenomenal pace, and resources can become outdated very quickly,” Faith Kitchen, education director at Ecclesiastical, commented.

“Cyber Ready comes with five initial scenarios to work through, which can be adapted easily to discuss other or new issues as they emerge. The new toolkit is designed to provide real-life scenarios in a fun and interactive way to get children to think differently about online safely.”
