The Pensions Ombudsman has disabled some of its systems in response to a cyber incident.

In a statement, the independent organisation said: “The Pensions Ombudsman is currently investigating a cyber incident and is working with the relevant agencies, including the National Cyber Security Centre, to deal with this incident.

“As a precautionary measure, some systems such as application forms and LiveChat have been disabled. We apologise for any inconvenience. More information will be shared once available.”

The ombudsman, which investigates disputes about pension schemes, did not provide further details.

It’s unclear whether the cyber incident is related to the MOVEit hack, which impacted payroll firm Zellis and some of its customers. Affected companies include UK giants Boots, British Airways, and the BBC.
