Lloyd’s broker THB and insurer CNA Hardy have teamed up with cybersecurity specialist Waterfall Security Solutions to create a new cyber security protection package for industrial businesses worldwide.

The new product, distributed exclusively through THB, includes CNA Hardy’s cyber tech and cyber insurance cover, which is offered at a 30% discount when combined with Waterfall’s proprietary unidirectional security gateway system.

Waterfall’s system repels attempted attacks on clients by creating an impassable barrier around an industrial network, which allows normal operations to continue without interruption.

“Working with Waterfall Security means we have long-term confidence about the security of our clients,” said Roddy Graham, head of THB’s professional & financial risks division.

“Following a pilot phase and several months of introducing the concept to our clients, the feedback has been extremely positive,” Graham added.

The three companies lamented that traditional cybersecurity solutions, such as firewalls and intrusion detection solutions, are failing to provide sufficient protection for industrial control systems.

According to the firms, manufacturing systems and industrial facilities have been impaired in recent years due to increased cyber-attacks, which have disrupted production, damaged equipment and compromised safety.
